A Time for Comfort

My beautiful daughter Maya Grace needs glasses! Not as bad as two of my boys, but definately when she is reading or watching a movie. After we did the eye exam we went to pick out glasses. She has a very pettite face, so most glasses look big on her. I didn't want her feel dorky so I forked out the $100, so they fit her face. Anyways in the process of that week waiting for them to be ready, she was very paranoid that a paticular boy would pick on her. We all kept encouraging her that if he did say something ugly he is just hurt himself and not to take it to heart. So, the day comes time to pick up the glasses. By the way my oldest son[who wears glasses and usually is not lovey with siblinngs] went on and on about how beautiful she lokked! That was great moment. Okay so next day its off to school in the new glasses. When she came home she really didn't say anything. Finally she just broke down and tells me that a group of people picked on her about her glasses. She was so heartbroken and hurt that it just wasn't the one kid she was worried about. So at this moment I happened to be sitting on the floor, she crawled over and layed her head in my lap. She didn't cry she was just really sad. I sat there a long time and just rubbed her hair back. No words were really said just a time of loving and comforting. She went back and nothing else has been said. She's a pretty confident girl so she is wearing them regardless. Okay so most definately I heard God's voice in the midst of all of this. First of all: We as people worry so much about what the world around us thinks. We usually walk away completely heartbroken that they could be so creul. And after such a time, What do we need most? To crawl up in our Daddy's lap. Let Him caress our face and bring us comfort like only he can do. A lot of times their are no words and usually a flow of tears. I am so thankful that we have such a wonderful Heavenly Father who holds our hearts gently in His hands. I am also so very thankful that he teaches us how to be parents and hopefully show HIM to our children!

On that note, we also need to remember that He doesn't always speak to us in our anguish. Sometimes He just smoothes our hair out of our tears and lets us rest in His loving arms.
What a sweet moment for you and Maya.
